$0.00

This is a digital item! You will receive a link to download a PDF file with the pattern. You will not receive a physical hat, or a physical printed copy of the pattern.

πŸ–¨οΈ This condensed version of the crochet pattern is intended for printing or quick reference. The extended version with many more photos and tips is available at margaretmakesthings.com/blog/tidepool-beanie-crochet-pattern.

  • Measurements – The finished hat measures 10” across at the base when laid flat (i.e. 20” brim circumference) and 11.5” long after seaming. It should fit most adults.

  • Gauge is (12 rows in pattern = 4”) and (17 stitches in pattern = 4”) for worsted weight yarn with a suggested 5.0 mm crochet hook (5.5 mm if you are a tight crocheter). Suggested yarn is Malabrigo Rios, and you will need about 200 yds (just under one skein).

  • Stitches used – (in US crochet terms) ch, sc, hdc, dc, yarn over slip stitch

  • Construction – The hat is worked in a single flat piece and then joined with a sc and mattress stitch seam. The rows run vertically (so the foundation chain determines the length, and the hat grows width-wise as it works up). The crown is shaped using short rows
